About

Biology and Tattoo
Gülşah Karaca (b. 1989, Istanbul) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin whose practice bridges biology, tattoo art and painting. Her early studies in Biology shaped a visual language grounded in detail and complexity, later evolving into bold abstractions that explore resilience and transformation.
Initially drawn to the concept of the human body as a “living canvas,” Karaca worked as a tattoo artist, creating designs that merged natural and colorful forms with various styles including fineline, geometry, botanical elements, realism, surrealism and abstraction. This experience deepened her understanding of intimacy and permanence in art.
Art
Since 2022, painting has become her primary focus, allowing her to embrace scale, texture, and conceptual depth. 2025 marked a pivotal year in her painting career—taking part in group shows, being featured in art magazines, and presenting her first solo exhibition. Her works often reflect themes of adaptation and identity, informed by her own migration journey. Through layered compositions and nuanced color, Karaca invites viewers to engage with the tension between vulnerability and growth, offering a contemporary interpretation of nature’s quiet complexity.
